Short version of this talk was presented by Mika Sillanpää after I have to chancel my participation. About two new ice crystal halos (named in this talk as the 6° halo and the 12° halo) found in photographs taken at the South Pole 10-11 Dec 1998. Also mention of possible ~28° halo (radius is not measured, but it is 26-29°).

ATMOSPHERIC OPTICS IN FINNISH

  • Editor of "Sivuaurinko" column in Ursa Minor, a bimonthly publication of Ursa Astronomical Association, (since 3/99). In the Ursa Minor publication Finnish Halo Observers Network is publishing its observations and news about halos. There is usually figure text in English and in the end there is a short English summary. Sivuaurinko column has usually 8-14 pages. Sivuaurinko columns can be founf in the net.
